The state of Florida is best known for its sunshine, beautiful beaches, and major amusement parks. Tourists come each year to visit places such as Cocoa Beach, Sanibel Island, the Everglades, Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World. The year round warm weather makes it one of the most popular second home locations in the United States and attracts many northern “snow birds” to come for the cold winter months.

While Florida is home to many nationally known large universities, small colleges are also abundant. Small colleges in Florida can be found just about anywhere in the state, from the northern area of Jacksonville to the southern city of Miami.

Many students prefer to attend small colleges for several reasons. Having smaller class sizes is one of the biggest reasons for choosing a school with less students. This makes it possible to receive more individual attention from professors and one on one interaction. Schools with less students can also make the transition from high school to college easier.

Small colleges in Florida can range in size from 300 student community colleges and trade schools to little universities and private schools with enrollments around 3,000 students. Some offer only a few majors and degrees while others offer a wide selection in many different fields of study.
